Discovering God And His Word – Eng Lim

I am so blessed to be a member of the ECBC "family"! I attended the Alpha course in 2003, joined the Discipleship class last September, and was baptised in December 2005.

In Alpha, I was searching but in Discipleship, I was in discovery. Together with the support of everyone in class, I was learning from the group's individual experiences that "speaks" to us in a different context. Discipleship opens my heart to a new dimension to God's Word. His Word became vivid, active and alive. I am beginning to understand God's Word beyond just a command written a long time ago. Instead it is continuously living. It prompts me to look at God's Word deeper.

My daily new "experience" during the week gives me the motivation to look forward to our weekly discipleship meeting. It is amazing how God speaks to everyone in various different situations. Everyone in the group is so dedicated and open to sharing their thoughts and their experiences. Every time as one opens up, it helps the others grow, seeing beyond the written scripture that we read. In a way, everyone's input enables us to discover new "meanings". This motivated and encouraged me to want to know more; it also helps me to act on faith to experience God's amazing work.
