Biking With No Helmet – Randy Khoo

Randy KhooI was born in Malaysia and moved to Canada four years ago. I am the youngest in my family. I have an older sister, Mandy, and an older brother, Andy.  When I was younger, I liked to bike in the middle of the road without a helmet even though I was told not to. One day while I was cycling, a car suddenly came out from nowhere and it almost hit me. At that time I felt someone was protecting me but I didn’t know who it was. Before I came to Canada, I knew a little bit about God through my mom; she is a Christian and she goes to church every Sunday, but then I didn’t have the chance to go to church because school activities always fell on Sundays. Also, since I was a Boy Scout member, I had to attend meetings every Sunday.

My grandma, aunties and uncles are Christian and they attend ECBC. After I moved to Canada, I was invited to attend ECBC too. I made a lot of friends in ECBC, who are very friendly and warm. I attend Sunday school and have learned a lot of things about Christianity. The Sunday school teacher told me many stories about Jesus Christ and how God loves us so much that He sent his only son to die on the cross for our sins so we may have eternal life. I was touched and that was when I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. A year later I started going to Youth Lighthouse every Friday.

Now, after I have known God, I think God was the one who protected me from that incident with the bicycle because He wanted me to know Him before I left this world. Before I knew God, I didn’t have anyone to talk to about my secrets, but after I knew Him, I share my secrets with Him because I know He is trustworthy. I talk to God every night and treat Him as my best friend as he treats me. Now I have decided to be baptized because I want to know God more and be closer to Him and witness to everyone that I am a Christian. I prayed and asked Christ to come into my life and give me the gift of eternal life. So now as I continue my life as a good Christian, I ask you to pray for me.
