teens how to live an exciting and full life in a God-fearing way, not in the ways promoted by society. It deals with everything a teenager can relate to - from school to dating to how to spread the Good News - and seeks to mold them into the future God-fearing adults God wants them to be.

Our focus in Youth Lighthouse is to build a community of faith among high school students that is rooted and established in the love of Christ, Two gentlemenso that all who come can feel comfortable and safe to be themselves, to experience true acceptance and care from God and one another, and to find hope for growth as individuals and in their relationships with God and other people.

Our fellowship is open to high school students from grades 7 to 12. We meet together for worship and special events, and then separate into two groups by grades: Junior Youth Lighthouse (JYL) is for grades 7 to 9, and Senior Youth Lighthouse (SYL) is for grades 10-12. Additionally, every member will have the opportunity to participate in a Small Group within the larger fellowship, making it easier to make friends, to share and ask questions, and to experience more meaningful interaction and personalized support for growing spiritually.

Four ladies

All are welcome, from those unfamiliar with who God is, to those who seek an active relationship with Christ, to those wanting to grow closer in their spiritual walk with Him. No matter what situations you are in, YL is committed to catering to every one of them in unique and exciting ways.

We hope to see you there!

VolleyballOur Program

Youth Lighthouse meets every Friday night for a prayer meeting followed by its weekly program. The program typically consists of worship (singing praises to God), games, and Biblical teaching (on topics relevant to the lives of teenagers). At the end of the night, the gym is open and snacks are served, providing for a time of mingling among teen members and with the YL Mentors.

Friday Nights (check Schedule & Website for dates & details)
7:30-8:00 pm Officer's Prayer Meeting (Rm 304)
8:00-9:30 pm Youth Lighthouse Program

Additionally, the Friday night program often features special activities such as: Chatrooms, Panels, Gym Nights, Debates, Skit Nights, Movie nights, Guys 'n' Girls Night Out, etc.

Three ladiesYouth Lighthouse also organizes a number of special events and projects throughout the year to praise and worship God, to pray, to celebrate holidays together, to reach out to friends and family, and to help serve different needs of our community and world. Current service projects include the 30 Hour Famine, supporting a Compassion Canada Sponsor Child (Akash from East India), monthly participation at Rainbow Missions (a ministry to the homeless in Downtown Vancouver), and organizing drives for Canned food (i.e. at the Christmas Banquet), gifts (Green-bag ministry), and Blankets & Socks (i.e. "Sharing the Warmth" in 2004-'05).

Our Student Leadership

Student Leadership is an important aspect of how Youth Lighthouse seeks to stay relevant to the teens within the group. Our student leadership team is closely Rheainvolved in the planning, organizing and running of all aspects of the program. Generally, leadership recruitment takes place before training meetings/retreats at the beginning of each school year (September), and again at the beginning of Winter term (January).

While Youth Lighthouse welcomes all teens to participate in its activities, our Student Officers are called to a higher standard in terms of being examples in living out their faith, and in seeking to grow in the Christian disciplines of Prayer, Bible Study, Worship, Fellowship and Evangelism. All Student Officers help with planning and running the Friday Night Programs. In addition, the Exec Team consists of the year's Co-Chairs and Worship Coordinator, as well as a team of Small Group Leaders. The Worship Coordinator works with the Adult Worship Mentor to oversee the YL Worship Team (which consists of Worship Team Leaders, Background Vocalists and Musicians).

Our Team
